Insurance firms set to help victims of bushfires
Following the recent bushfire tragedies in Australia, insurance firms have stated that they are set to help those that suffered as a result of the fires, with a task force being set up to help.
The recent bushfires in Australia have resulted in mass death as well as tragedy for the many people that lost not only their loved ones but also their homes. According to recent reports the insurance industry in Australia is set to assist people that have lost their property and homes in the tragedy by speeding up claims through the setting up of a specialist task force.
The Insurance Council of Australia has said that the special task force will be set up to help speed things along for the many people that have lost all that they have in the Victorian bushfires. Claims and assessments will be dealt with more promptly and effectively through the task force, which means that victims will be paid out more quickly and can start rebuilding their lives.
An official from the Insurance Council said that people that have been affected and cannot get back to their homes, or have lost their homes, should not panic with regards to their claims. He said: “Once people do get back, or they know they’re going to be putting an insurance claim in, call your insurance company and talk about putting a claim in and get the assessment process under way.”
He added: “Now if people have lost their documentation, which a lot of people would have of course due to the actual size and devastation of these fires, that’s not a problem. Just ring your insurer, have your address and of course your name and they’ll be able to look up your details and get the ball rolling.”
