Wireless Broadband Taking off in Australia

Optus re-grabbing the leading market share
Optus, the nation’s second largest Telco has reclaimed its race in wireless broadband, thanks to the help of huge take-up on iPhone.
In the process it beat rival Telstra in the telecoms sector’s hottest product category — wireless broadband — in the September quarter for the first time.
The No 2 mobile group won 104,000 new customers who use wireless broadband for their laptops and computers with high-speed broadband.
Telstra said it added 90,000 new wireless broadband subscribers for the quarter.
Optus added 182,000 new subscribers in the quarter, including a record 128,000 post-paid additions, bringing the number of mobile phone customers to 7.4 million.
The number of 3G subscribers increased to 2.16 million, wireless broadband has been a key strategy Optus has deployed to win market share. (more…)
