Increased consumer spending expected over Christmas

A recent report has suggested that consumers in Australia may be splashing out this Christmas thanks to increased consumer confidence and the rising Australian dollar.

There is no doubt that over the past year the picture has looked pretty bleak for retailers in Australia and in many other countries, as consumers have had to deal with the double whammy of the global credit crunch and the recession, both of which have had a profoundly negative impact upon their finances and their ability to spend.

Australian banks get more power due to credit checks

It has been revealed that banks in Australia are to get more power when it comes to deciding who will and will not get finance, and this is due to new plans with regards to credit checking potential borrowers.

Many banks in Australia face a tough time when it comes to deciding who is and is not a safe bet in terms of borrowing money, and often banks can make the wrong decision by either refusing credit to someone that is a good payer and can afford the repayments or giving out credit to someone that turns out to be struggling financially and cannot realistically meet the repayments on the loan.

One in five Aussies fall victim to ID theft

It has been revealed in a recent report that one in five Australian consumers has fallen victim to the growing crime of identity theft.

Identity theft has become a growing problem in Australia, as well as in other countries, and according to one recent report one in every five Australians has fallen victim to this sort of criminal activity. Officials have said that often the criminals that carry out this sort of crime are using very basic methods such as stealing mail to steal consumers’ identity.

More Australians use their own bank ATMs for withdrawals

It has been reported by the Reserve Bank of Australia that a rising number of Australians are now ensuring that they use their own bank’s ATM to make a cash withdrawal in order to avoid fees.

For many consumers in Australia the ongoing difficult financial climate has made it more important than ever to put a stop to wasting money even if it is only small amounts of cash, which as most people know only too well can quickly add up. One way in which many people have been wasting a lot of money in small amounts is through the charges made by ATMs when they make cash withdrawals from an ATM that is from a rival bank to theirs.

Australian financial sector struggles to find skilled staff

In a recent report it has been revealed that many areas of the financial services sector in Australia are finding it difficult to find skilled and experienced workers.

It has recently been reported that many areas of the financial services sector in Australia are having real problems finding skilled and experienced employees to keep things running smoothly. There are concerns that with the turbulence that has hit the financial sector many companies have let employees with experience go, but when the need arises they are having severe difficulties finding replacement staff with the skills and experience necessary.
